COVID-19 UPDATES

To our patients,

As you know your care and safety and the safety of our team is our top priority.

Recommendations to dental offices are changing rapidly regarding shelter in place, social distancing and essential dental treatment. We are working hard to remain compliant with the recommendation by the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and our Governor that California dentists suspend all care other than essential and emergency treatment.

If you have any questions regarding your dental care or have urgent concerns, please call us or send a direct message through our website; we are here for you and will be seeing emergency patients.

Our phones will be answered during our normal business hours and, as always, we can be reached outside of the business hours for any emergency calls.

We are looking forward to returning to patient care and the opportunity to once again visit with our dental family of patients…we miss you all!

Thank you for being our patients!

What Are the Available Treatments for Gapped Teeth?

There are many ways to close the gaps that separate teeth. For many years, traditional orthodontic methods such as braces were the primary treatment for gapped teeth, and in some cases, this is still the most effective solution. However, modern cosmetic dentistry offers a number of quicker, equally effective, yet far more aesthetically pleasing alternatives, including:

  • Porcelain Veneers: You may have heard of a procedure by the name of “instant orthodontics.” This procedure actually refers to the placement of porcelain veneers to conceal such orthodontic flaws as small spaces between teeth without the need for traditional metal braces. Veneers are made of strong, durable porcelain that is bonded to the front surfaces of teeth. They can be used to widen narrow teeth in order to close gaps and produce a more uniform smile.
  • Dental bonding: Dental bonding involves the application of a composite resin material to the front surfaces of the teeth, which is then sculpted to complement surrounding natural teeth, exposed to a special curing light, and then polished to a smooth finish. Like porcelain veneers, dental bonding can be used to widen narrow teeth and fill gaps; however, it is less expensive than porcelain veneers while still looking natural.
  • Dental implants: Dental implants are the most effective way to fill gaps left by missing teeth. Implants are titanium posts that are surgically embedded in the jaw, where they act as artificial tooth roots for crowns and bridges. Dr. Mateja entrusts the placement of dental implants to a qualified oral surgeon and then places the custom-crafted restoration to complete the procedure. The result is a beautiful, gap-free smile and restored oral health.
